About John Davidson

For over twenty five years, John has engaged a variety of ways of exploring consciousness and cultivating the emergence of soul, including meditation, nutrition,John Davidson yoga, qigong, Native American ceremonial practice, intensive nature meditations (sometimes called vision questing), trainings in working with death and the dying, and years of study of indigenous shamanism in both the Amazonian plant medicine and southern mountain energy healing traditions with a variety of teachers. He has worked with individual clients in these ways for over ten years, and has taught meditation since the mid-1990's, along with a variety of workshops related to shamanic journeying and heart-centered attention.

The overriding theme that has emerged in this work is the centrality of the heart’s central role in supporting human health and in igniting a passion of purpose in our lives. In particular, John emphasizes the need to learn the skill of heart centered attention as a foundation for all effective efforts at bringing about positive and long term change in our lives, including the development of a true soul perspective.

While traveling in Nepal, India, and Peru, John has taken a particular interest in observing how children in relatively poor and remote agricultural areas have often seemed to be healthier than children of similar age in America. This simple observation led to an investigation of autism spectrum and learning disorders. That study led to John’s belief that our children are increasingly suffering from early onset health dysfunctions and disease that arise from the singular event of Americans leaving an agrarian connection with the earth. All of the unintended consequences of that catastrophic event have been accelerated by the similarly unintended consequences of an unconscious approach to nutrition, technology and science. These are issues of great soul consequence – including our relationship with the earth soul – that affect all of us.

"Since I began working with John my life has entirely changed. Through my private practice with HeartMath® programs, I've learned to live in my heart, coming from a place of love, compassion, and appreciation instead of angrily striving to beat life into submission. I've finally been able to take an honest look at my life and admit where I need to make changes. And most importantly, I feel more like myself than I ever have. Learning unconditional love for myself . . . has woken me from the terrible nightmare I was living into the great unknown realm of possibility. I am so grateful...and John has been an integral part of that journey".

"About a year a half ago, I lost my mom to suicide. This was and still is the toughest, most traumatic event that I have experienced in my life. With all the trauma and stress, I developed anxiety and panic attacks that were uncontrollable and very difficult to deal with. I had a difficult time concentrating on life itself and getting through each day without the overwhelming feeling of anxiety. I was referred to John Davidson at Heartworks where I learned to turn to my heart and not let my mind take over in difficult situations.
